ABOUT GREG ZAKOWICZ
With nearly 20 years of experience, Greg is well-versed in how successful marketing departments operate and knows how to help companies grow. For the past 13 years, he has worked for two high-growth startups serving various marketing capacities, joining each company around the 50-employee mark with less than $12 million in ARR. The first of the two (Bronto) reached 400 employees and $50 million in ARR before being acquired. He is currently helping accelerate growth as the Sr. Ecommerce Expert at Omnisend, an email and SMS marketing automation company.
Content Marketing
Greg loves a holistic content marketing strategy. He has worked in content marketing for the past eight-plus years, strategizing, conceiving, and creating B2B content like whitepapers and success stories, industry benchmark reports, public relations outreach and materials, thought leadership blog posts, external bylines, YouTube videos, and podcasts. He conceived, launched, and hosted two award-winning podcasts, the Commerce Marketer Podcast and Unboxing Careers Podcast, as well as the limited-run Cart Insiders Podcast.
Leadership
Employees who feel respected and are treated like professionals churn less and perform better, which is why Greg believes in employee-centric leadership. He efficiently led a team of nine across two successful lines of business back in the early 2000’s, as well as a smaller content team after joining Omnisend. As an ecommerce subject matter expert (SME), Zakowicz has been a frequent speaker and chair at ecommerce events, such as Email Camp, IRCE, eTail events (West & Canada), Fashion Digital New York, Magento Live Australia, SuiteWorld, and Outdoor Retailer. He’s been published and quoted in top retail and business publications, including Forbes, The New York Post, Bloomberg, Total Retail, Multichannel Merchant, Adweek, DIGIDAY, AP News, MarketingProfs, and Internet Retailer.
Zakowicz has previously been retained as an ecommerce and retail industry expert witness, issuing a report on in-store and online consumer shopping trends.
Email Marketing and Ecommerce
Greg started working in email marketing in 2005 when he joined a startup radio promotions company. From there, he joined a publishing company and was responsible for managing more than 100 million marketing email sends per year. He kept expanding his industry knowledge, and founded a specialty gluten-free ecommerce site in 2009. From there, Zakowicz turned from practitioner to strategist, helping more than 130 companies worldwide improve their email and SMS marketing sales, and grew into an email marketing SME.
